The story Of some of the elite' Gangster rappers
(more to B added)

Compton CA- where we set our scene- the mean streetz ruled by Thugs and killers- constantly on the Run from the Boys In blue. A particular group emerged from here comprising of the first gangster rap Group. NWA- Niggaz With Attitude comprised Of Eazy-E, Ice Cube,Old Yella', MC Ren, And Dr Dre their first album 'Straight Outta Compton' was a big hit shocking all and was recently voted the 4th most hardcore album ever! The latter of the crew (Dr Dre) has played a big part in rap music from then to the present day- and introduced most of the current major rap and hip-hop stars and long sice moved on from the old Skool style MC'ing present on NWA's recordings. Dre's father left his mother yet still supported her and D-R, he remarried a Mrs Griffin and settled with her and her son in Long Beach california. The son of Mrs Griffin and the step-brother of Dre, Warren was a few years younger- though there was and never has been any problems in their relationship. Warren's closest Homie Calvin Broadus ( or Snoop as his mother used to call him thanx 2 his resemblance to the peanuts comic strip character) and his cousin Nathanial Hale (Nate Dogg)- they formed togather to make a rap group "2,1,3" and were big in Long Beach where they performed. Of course It was hard for Dre not to hear their material and after just finishing with NWA he was starting a new record label with Suge Knight (released from Jail yesterday 10/05/2001) - DEATH ROW. Dre after hearing their talents took up Snoop and Nate to begin with. Snoop's first public appearence was on the deep Cover soundtrack and wrote Hip-Hop history with him on "Nuthin' But A G Thang" on Dre's first solo LP- The chronic. Snoop's style was so unique that within a snap he was signed to Death Row and released his own solo project 'Doggy Style' within the year he signed. Doggy Style was very succesful and despite being likened very much to Dre's pre-released 'The Chronic, was the first Debut album in US chart history to go straight in at number 1!!! Meanwhile- as Snoop and Dre were all conquering Nate and Warren united And through Dre's contacts Warren started his own label- G-Funk records, to which Nate was the first signing as a sub-label to death row - His 1st LP G funk greatest hits vol1 was very succesful although I can't pass a judgement on it as I haven't heard it. Warren G and Nate became huge with the release of 'Regulate' from Warren G's LP on G-funk/Interscope records and their career's have not stopped rising since- though G has been concentrating on the Label, producing and his Family recently.

After Doggystyle Snoop released 3 more albums with Death Row: The Doggfather, Got Beef (Which as far as I'm aware is only available on import from Australia,) And Murder Was The case (Which was a soundtrack to an 18 minute film made by Snoop Dogg during his trial for murder- in which Dogg was accused of taking the wheel in a drive-by while his Bodyguard Shot at his rival gang-member ...........?) The Film is the only Death Row film ever made- it was to be a video but Snoop developed it into the short film it is. the Soundtrack consists of many Death Row rappers and features 2or3 of Snoop's own track's one being a remix of the Track Murder was the Case that had originally featured on his debut album Doggystyle. Snoop Doggy Dogg had been good friends with the late Tupac Shakur - and was shocked by his death. The two had spent lots of time with each other- yet only made it into the studio together relatively little- The track '2 Of Amerikaz most wanted' features on 2Pac's album "All eyez On Me" and will do soon on the homepage to this website. The loss affected snoop a lot- and in late '97 the Doggfather left Death Row records. His name dropped the 'Doggy' And Snoop Dogg began to release records under Master P's private record label No Limit. Only a short while after being with no Limit Snoop had a great stake in the company and found himself making decisions with Master P. After the previous occurances Snoop mellowed out a little- his tracks became a little more down key and  In 1998 under No Limit Snoop released 2 albums to boost knowledge and popularity of the then 'underground styled' label. Only a short while after being with no Limit Snoop had a great stake in the company and found himself making decisions with Master P. Since his move Snoop's sales have suffered in the UK, but in his homeland once the second album of the year was released 'No Limit Top Dogg' Dogg had his finger on the trigger so-to-speak.

After a gap of nearly a year-and a half- on Dre's return to the charts- Snoop followed suit- The 1st release from Chronic 2001 "Still DRE" featured none other than Snoop Dogg - as did many of the following released tracks from the album - F*ck you, The Next Episode and bitch N*ggas. And in early 2001 Snoop released what is rumered to be his final album "Tha Last Meal" which I have to say is fantastic- Snoop with the help of Kokane on many tracks produces very original Rap tracks bringing Hip-hop into the 21st century. Also this year after the release of Suge Knight a previously unreleased LP was on the shelves "Dead Man walkin'" under Death Row, a collection of tracks 'left behind' with death Row. No Limit is now the biggest privately owned record label, And From This Master P and Snoop Dogg have become 2 of the richest men in the rap game despite losing such artists as Mystikal

Snoop aswell as being an Xecutive with No Limit Now has his own Sub-Label, Doggy Style Records - Watch this space for upcoming Doggystyle artists!!!!
